hey lethal how do i update my drivers on m laptop?

Added 4 months, 3 weeks ago by lethal - respond

The best way is to go to the manufacturer's site and proceed to their support section.

so i seem to have come to a bit of an impass as i try to put together my laptop lethal i got the HDD back in fine its all the little things that i dont know about. do i have to remove the fan to put something in?

Added 5 months ago by Zero - respond

also the gray and black connectors dos it matter which side they go on?

Added 5 months ago by lethal - respond

You have to remove the fan and heat sink to put the cpu back in. You'll want to grease the heat sink also.

The black wire goes to the main and the gray goes to the aux on the wireless card.

Added 5 months ago by Zero - respond

theres two black wires also how do i tell whats the main?

Added 5 months ago by Zero - respond

well i got it all together but it isn't turning on now >.>

Added 5 months ago by lethal - respond

You have the ram in? Is the cpu screwed in? I'm happy to help. :)

Added 5 months ago by Zero - respond

yeah the ram is in and the cpu is screwed in but it doesnt sound like the fan in turning on is that the problem?

Added 5 months ago by lethal - respond

Any lights come on? Does its behavior change at all when you press the power button?

Added 5 months ago by Zero - respond

Yeah the power light turns on and it makes a noise then it stays blank and turns off after about 20-30 seconds later.

Added 5 months ago by lethal - respond

Sounds like a fan, possible the cpu fan, is not plugged in and the machine is powering off to avoid damage from overheating.

Added 5 months ago by Zero - respond

nothings ever easy, the fan looks plugged in should i try unplugging it and plugging it back in to see if that helps?

Added 5 months ago by Zero - respond

i give up i guess i'll have to have you take a look at it

Added 5 months ago by lethal - respond

I'm happy to. Who knows? Maybe they gave you some new problems for free?

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by Zero - respond

oi, lethal is there a way i can change video ouput to dvi if i cant see whats going on?

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by lethal - respond

Fn + F2

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by Zero - respond

so everytime i hit that key combination my laptop seems to lock up it stops doing anything

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by lethal - respond

What exactly does it stop doing when you do press these keys?

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by Zero - respond

it stops accesing the ram and the nothing else responds cant even turn on caps lock i tried a couple different times and it does the same thing.

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by lethal - respond

Seems like the machine has more problems than the monitor. How long have you had this?

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by Zero - respond

just over a year

* Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by lethal - respond

Call up avadirect and try to get a replacement. Give them some guff and they'll play ball.

* Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by Zero - respond

yeah so i called and they said the reason it was freezing up was because of drivers and they had updated them ...which doesnt really help me since i cant see whats going on. also i talked to the manufacturer their gonna have it go in under warranty but i need help taking this stuff out

pci wireless harddrve, cpu, memory harddirve harddrive kit ac adapter and battery

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by lethal - respond

Sounds like fun for me. You can do it if you want.

That stuff is a cinch to remove from your laptop. There are two panels on the bottom. You just remove the screws on them and slide them off. All the stuff is right under those.

I cannot tell you how to remove the battery and ac adapter. It's beyond me. ;P

The hardest part is finding a place to store your parts. You'll want to place your cpu, ram, hdd, and wireless card in separate static proof bags. I got some.

Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by Zero - respond

where do i get staticproof bags at?

* Added 5 months, 2 weeks ago by lethal - respond

I don't know. I get enough parts that I have bags. I've never purchased the bags themselves. You can buy them off of newegg. I wouldn't recommend it at $12 for 10 bags. You might be able to find them at Circuit City too.

If you want a quick clean solution I know similar thing happened to my brothers laptop and he hooked it up to a monitor. (He also took off he screen so it wouldnt be in the way... but going on a quick temp solution idea, I'mm sure you have usb mouse + keyboard)

* Added 5 months, 3 weeks ago by lethal - respond

It's probably a loose connection. You will have to take it apart to fix it. I can look at it next time I see you.

Ask Hanpan for one of my addresses.

Also, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't get that job downtown I wanted. We just have to keep at this bullshit and we will conquer it.

Lethal applies for another position

Added 5 months, 3 weeks ago by nickishappy - respond

If it's not a loose connection, you can sometimes find a replacement for cheaper than a new laptop. In that case, you might as well just keep it taken apart and start looking around.

Sorry to hear lethal didn't get the job he went for. Good luck in the future :D
