Nexus One
Up until earlier this week, I've been using a G1. It's a pretty good device, but one thing that is awful about it is the speed. It has just enough latency to be irritating. The software is really nice though, from a both user and developer standpoint.
So on Monday, I received a Nexus One. The difference is incredible. Everything so polished and quick. I thought I was going to hate the touchscreen keyboard, but I'm at least as accurate in my typing as I was with the G1. Ignoring performance, Google seems to be paying attention. Standard on the device is a widget for toggling the various power consumers of the device: WIFI, Bluetooth, GPS, data syncing, and the light sensor. The gallery has had a large upgrade. The most notable change is the Picasa interaction. Not only can you upload to your albums, but you see them in your hpone's gallery as you would a regular folder on your SD card. Something that was released just this week was Google Earth for Android. Great timing on my part. It works almost identically to the desktop version and performance is smooth. It doesn't feel like a it's on a phone, performance-wise.
