RROD Club

I am finally a member of the RROD club! I've had my 360 since around the time they first came out. Bought it for super cheap from the back of a truck so I'm impressed it only RROD'd now. Good news is: I never played it and was looking to mod it anyways and I also found out like a couple hours ago that a good friend of my brothers buys broken 360's and then fixes and mods them and will help me with that. In any case it's the end of an era. An era in which my 360 was on for 2 days straight during a guitar hero party. An era in which I exchanged GH2 for another copy because some jerk knocked the system over while the disc was in the system, and when I returned it I played dumb like I don't know how discs work or why it would've 'just stopped working.' And an era where almost all the games I bought were more frustrating than fun (Sega Revo Rally, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Eternal Darkness.) Also the end of an era where I think to myself everyday I should have held out for a ps3, cause my 360's getting modded and will play every game ever! :3

Good luck with your new special 360. Not only will you be able to play every game ever, but usually around a week before it's released. :P

My special xbox freezes ;3; but so did my old one which got progressively worse over time, but my other other xbox did not. (Long story short: First xbox broke, got cheap one from kijiji traded both xbox's for a modded one and my hard drive- but then got cheap hard drive from ebay.) So I've asked my friend with several xbox's (seriously- he has a pro, a modded pro, and an elite, his room mate has 2.. I think maybe they have lan parties or something.) if I can borrow one of his many power bars because when I was trying to trouble shoot why my old one was broken I tried everything except new power bar, which I've read can be the cause of freezing. However, I'm also thinking it could be the heat because even Canada gets hot in the summer and I do not have A/C, and the freezing was worse before my xbox was out in the open, but it is still parked beside a giant CRT-TV.

Question: If the problem is infact that my apartment is too hot would putting frozen water bottles around my xbox help with this problem? I would obviously take precaution to prevent water from leaking out onto my xbox.

It probably is heat. I don't think my 360 has ever frozen, but it has come close. I remember playing HL2 last summer and the colors went wacky. I shut it down, turned on my A/C, and it played fine the rest of the day. There are some aftermarket fans that would probably help.

You should consider getting a LCD too. It's 2010 for crying out loud. :) They just keep getting cheaper too.

Lol I would love to get an LCD- I might actually see if my brother will sell my his because now that LED TVs are cheaper because of 3D tv's he feels his giant LCD TV is crap.

But I would like to point out that up until a month ago I lived with an LCD TV and since I am a student/cashier I was barely able to scrap enough money together to get my cheap kijiji xbox and was only able to get a new hard drive for xbox because my paypal had hundreds of dollars on it because I bought/resold the 2010 Vancover Olympic mittens on ebay. (Bought for each pair $10... sold for $25-$50)

I had even tried selling my Dingoo to get extra cash but people only offered me trades or way low-balled my offer. But I am somewhat glad it didn't sell, I love my Dingoo.

But would my frozen water-bottle method work? I can't see why it wouldn't.

The problem with the water bottles is maintenance and also the condensation might cause a bit of fun. I would remove the case before doing that.

So here is the story (I really want to play Borderlands and it is an actual game not a special one.)

So I get my new Xbox, it's hot as heck. I play Borderlands and it freezes. I play Dragon Age and it freezes, I play Just Cause 2 and it freezes.

I get an after market cooling fan (which I've heard that they are life savers and xbox killers- mine runs on separate A/C and just shoots air up through the system.) I play Borderlands, it freezes. I email my buddy and get his adapter.

I play Borderlands, it freezes. I swear.

I play Sega Revo Rally, doesn't freeze.(Real game) Play Dragon Age(Special game), doesn't freeze. (I check Borderlands disc and it has no visible scuffs, hairs, scratches etc.)

So now Ive got to test whether or not the new adapter is doing anything or not and perhaps reconsider this after martket fan business.

You just can't win. Have you tried it without the case on?
