Hardy Heron
10 more days, who else is excited?
ME!!!
To tell the truth though, I'm more excited about Fedora 9, scheduled to be final on April 29th. Ubuntu is what I put on others' machines. Fedora and CentOS are what I use on my own. :)
I can't wait for the Kubuntu 8.04. The latest Fedora 9 kernel panics on me like the recent fedora 8 ones do on boot :(
This is the problem I told you about on Friday. If I disable acpi, it will boot, but I am left with 1/4th the processors.

Dmesg won't say much, because my bluetooth dongle likes to fill it with meaningless messages (it still functions perfectly.) Good old Bluez!
rant
I've been meaning to take a pic and post a bug with Fedora, but they know that the way they're compiling kernels causes issues. They've been jackasses about it, stating Fedora is not for the "Newbs." Because their ticketing system is based on "voting" my issue would not be looked at unless others have the issue and vote the bug up.
I'm also shying away from Fedora for now because of PulseAudio. Its lead developer has a god complex, knows it has issues, thinks it's the way of the future, and thinks everyone who doesn't want to use it should f* off. Since KDE and PA don't play nice in Fedora (as well as many games with SDL audio) I'm taking a similar view towards both projects at the moment.
end rant
Dmesg might give me some clues to what is failing. By the way, have you tried any other acpi-related kernel parameters?
Try nohpet or noapic. irqpoll usually has some interesting affects on fussy hardware.
Every other distro on the planet still works, so I'm just not going to bother with it for now. For the hell of it, here is the output of dmesg:
